#Krautschau - we explore the Roßmarkt!

How is the city centre of Frankfurt doing in terms of plant diversity? Let's find out together with the #Krautschau citizen science project! We are focussing on the countless, mostly overlooked (or worse: perceived as ‘weeds’ in cracks in paving and wall joints) plants and their value for the city.

Many people perceive plants, if at all, only as a green background, decoration or roadside greenery. But if you take a closer look, you will find plants almost everywhere in our cities, which are characterised by concrete and asphalt, even in city centres. And not just in parks, front gardens and flowerbeds, but simply everywhere: in paving joints, cracks in walls and on roadsides. The #Krautschau urban botany campaign is a wonderful way to discover this diversity in a low-threshold way and make it creatively visible.

In this slot, this format will be introduced and all those present will be invited to go on a #Krautschau throughout the square in the following hour - and to collect together afterwards which plants they have found.
