In my talk, I will take you inside the microscopic world of DNA, showing how we can watch DNA move in real time—and what these movements reveal about the architecture of our genome.
The long DNA is compacted into chromosome with the help from SMC proteins. But exactly how they organize the chromosome during cell cycle remains a mystery.
Using innovative single-molecule fluorescence imaging, we look deep into the interaction between DNA and SMC proteins—and decipher how our genome is organized for essential biological processes—revealing fundamental mechanisms that could one day inform new therapeutic strategies.

Since Bachelor’s Degree, I have been fascinated with fluorescence microscopy and its application to study biological processes. After completing M.Sc. Chemistry in India, I moved to Germany to pursue a Carrier in Research. Currently I am working as a Doctoral Researcher in Max Planck Institute of Biophysics. My research focuses on how DNA is organized into chromosomes within the cell using Single molecule Fluorescence Imaging.
